Chill Out!!!

We had a small problem last week with a blister on Amelia's gum brought on we think by the molar underneath. She is currently cutting 4 teeth and at one point last week a blister which had formed over her bottom left, burst. The following day it had gone a very strange colour and the poor little mite was in a considerable amount of pain. Anna carted her off down to the doctor where her temperature was taken an an incredible 40°C. Bearing in mind that 37 is normal, 38 is running a fever and at 39 and above you're in danger of suffering from seizures or fits known as febrile convulsions. They prescribed antibiotics and told us to get the temperature down immediately. Anna got Amelia straight into a cool bath and thankfully she cooled off and as suddenly as the whole episode began, it subsided. The medicine seems to have done the trick with the gum looking much less angry and Amy back to her usual chirpy self. She is pictured here painting pots for Jane and Ffelsh in honour of Mother's Day,

Welcome My 'Son'

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome into the world Vin Sixsmith who was born on Thursday 16th March in Utrecht, Holland. His parents of course are Amelia's Godfather Simon, and the lovely Wieteke. The reason for his inclusion here is not only that he's my Godson, but of course that he's probably the only lad I'll ever willingly let within 100 yards of my little princess. Careful son, I'm watching you already.

8,000 Happy Customers

So busy this week I almost missed our 8,000th visitor to the site. It's an amazing number of people, especially when you also consider that the hits have come so far from 66 different countries too.

'S No Problem

Last weekend Manchester was a positive Winter wonderland and this gave Amelia her first taste of snow - literally. It was quite something to see her leave tiny little footprints in Mum & Dad's back garden. She was just recovering from a very nasty bug which actually had all the hallmarks of Salmonella poisoning. She had spent a week vomiting back anything more than a thimble of water and suffering chronic diorrhea. Anna and I had spent the previous 4 days in shifts during the night reducing her fever and making sure she had at least some water so as not to dehydrate. It was the first time she'd been properly ill since leaving hospital and it reminded us of something important; although she is acting just like a normal toddler she is still tiny for her age and something like this shows just how few reserves she has. Having not had a mouthful of food for days she dramatically lost weight and began to look very gaunt. Thankfully she's back wolfing it down now but she's lost the chubbyness around her face and limbs that we'd begun to take for granted. Some sausage and chips should do the trick.
