Promoted Again!

Well yesterday Amelia was 'promoted' to the big kids' room next door. This is basically a switch from intensive to special care. She's still in the incubator and nothing else has really changed.

This morning on the doctor's round there was detection again of a slight heart murmor for the first time in over a week. This is because of the PDA for those uninitiated; you can go to Amy's Classroom for more info on these.

Although it is very common in preemies it's a cause for concern for us. Amelia is still requiring additional Oxygen, albeit only a trace and this is due more to her lungs' deficiencies than the PDA but if the Oxygen requirement continues past when the lungs should be functioning normally they will have to investigate the cause. If the duct doesn't close, they may need to intervene surgically although we understand this would be some way off.
